Collision Rich Rainbow with the Greek Bulk Carrier IVF Alliance in Manila Bay

tanker At 2150 LT (UTC +8) on April 7, The Collision RICHRAINBOW with the Greek bulk carrier IVY ALLIANCE in Manila Bay, 3 nautical
miles north of Cavite City in metropolitan Manila. RICH RAINBOW was reportedly
leaving the anchorage; she arrived there in the morning of April 7 from
Thailand's Gulf of Siam, most likely to get supplies or to change crews, with a
cargo of gasoline on board, though she was obviously only partially loaded.

The bulk carrier IVY
ALLIANCE was en route from Kalimantan, Indonesia, to Zhenjiang, China, with a
cargo of coal when she turned back in the morning of April 7 and sailed to
Manila Bay, most likely for supplies or a crew change.

Both ships sustained
significant damage: the RICH RAINBOW suffered a 20-meter-long starboard hull
breach above the waterline at cargo deck level, while the IVY ALLIANCE suffered
a 10-15-meter-long breach in the fore starboard area, also above the waterline.
As of 0430 UTC on April 8, both ships were still anchored at Manila Anchorage.
