The Port of Southampton will become the first UK mainland port to have a private 5G network as a result of this new contract.

The Verizon private 5G platform will provide ABP with a dependable and secure private wireless data network in select areas of the Port's Eastern and Southern Docks. This will allow data communications to be combined onto a single network, reducing previous complexity and aiding in the improvement of terminal communications reliability and security.
